Unlocking Climate Finance for Indigenous Land Rights : Challenging the Narrative

This session brought together Indigenous leaders, regional organisations, donors, and multilateral funders for a strategic dialogue on practical solutions to the barriers preventing climate finance from reaching Indigenous-led organisations. The discussion focused on two key questions: why climate finance is still not reaching Indigenous organisations effectively, and what models are working to close that gap.

As the world prepares for COP30 in Belém, Brazil, Indigenous Peoples  are leading a transformative shift in global climate governance.

This timely and highly relevant webinar explored the proposal of Indigenous Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), put forward by the Articulation of Indigenous Peoples of Brazil (APIB) during the 21st edition of the Free Land Camp (ATL), as well as by authorities and Indigenous leaders from the nine countries of the Amazon Basin and from all biomes across Brazil, in the context of the Indigenous PreCOP. 

Navigating Loss and Damage: A Path to Justice for Indigenous and Local Communities

In this session we explored the operationalisation of the Loss and Damage Fund and examined its practical and conceptual implications. We delved into key questions, such as how funds will be raised, how compensation will work, and how the fund can best benefit those affected by both economic and non-economic losses, including cultural heritage and biodiversity.

Women and territorial governance in the Amazon: for biodiversity and the protection of indigenous and traditional territories

At this  COP16 side event, Indigenous and traditional women leaders shared their experiences, challenges, and ongoing efforts to manage their territories and protect biodiversity at local, regional, and global levels.
