Stakeholders: Indigenous Peoples spread across 10 provinces. AMAN members in project targeted districts.
AMAN and BRWA are assisting 824 communities in 12 districts in 10 provinces to secure and sustain their territorial rights. They are working with national and district governments to achieve recognition of 500,000 hectares of indigenous territories. AMAN is collaborating with six district governments to prepare regulations for recognising indigenous territories. AMAN and BRWA are working with communities to map, verify, and register 350,000 hectares of indigenous territories. BRWA coordinates with the Geospatial Information Agency to incorporate indigenous territories into official land use maps. The project includes organisational capacity building, gender equality and youth inclusion activities, and supported AMAN’s 2022 National Congress. Tenure Facility has supported AMAN and BRWA since 2018.
