CONAQ is Brazil’s most influential quilombola network. In partnership with the Human Rights Brazil Fund (FBDH, incubating the National Quilombola Territorial Fund), it is working with quilombola organisations and state and federal land agencies in the states of Amazonas, Amapá, and Maranhão to advance the titling of more than 1 million hectares in 100 TQs.

CONAQ will work with quilombola organisations and state and federal land agencies in the states of Amazonas, Amapá, and Maranhão to advance the titling of more than 1 million hectares in 100 quilombola communities. Activities will include mapping; preparation of studies for titling and quilombola territorial management and environmental plans; and submitting requests for Environmental Registry Certificates (CARs). CONAQ will strengthen its capacity for policy dialogue with the government and promote quilombola territorial rights with national and state governments. The Fundo Brazil de Direitos Humanos (FBDH) will assist CONAQ in incubating a quilombola territorial fund, to channel funds for these and other activities.
