One question and three lessons: reflections from Tenure Facility’s Asia Learning Exchange on women’s leadership in the land tenure movement

In February 2026, Tenure Facility convened partners in Labuan Bajo, Indonesia, for the Asia Learning Exchange, with a focus on women’s leadership. The exchange created space for women community leaders to share their experiences directly—how they organise, negotiate, and sustain their communities’ struggles over time. When the people doing the work are the ones telling the story, the tone shifts.

As COP30 wraps up, we shed light on key advances for community land rights

With COP30 now concluded, the outcomes of the summit reveal both meaningful progress and persistent challenges. The final agreement advanced several priorities but omitted direct mention of fossil fuels, a significant gap in global climate ambition. Still, Indigenous Peoples, Afro-descendant communities, and local communities helped drive important achievements for land and tenure rights—an essential pillar of any durable climate strategy.
