On January 27, 2026 we had the Land Dialogue webinar, Safeguarding the Congo Basin: The Belém Call to Action on Mobilizing Finance and Leadership for Forest Protection.
This 90-minute webinar delved into the newly launched Belém Call to Action for the Congo Basin Forest, a landmark international commitment to protect the world’s largest carbon sink and the planet’s second-largest tropical rainforest.
Building on the momentum of the Congo Basin Forest Partnership roadmap adopted in Libreville, the discussion unpacked the historic USD 2.5 billion pledge announced at COP30, explored how Central African governments and global partners are aligning efforts to halt deforestation by 2030, and highlighted the critical role of technological innovation, community leadership, and improved forest governance.
The dialogue provideed an essential platform to understand what the Belém Call means for the future of the Congo Basin and how its implementation can be driven on the ground.
